About the Roles

 

 

We are seeking talented qualified individuals to grow our passionate maintenance workforce at multiple sites across the Bowen Basin (Fixed Plant Fitters, Mobile Equipment Fitters, Hydraulic Fitters, Heavy Vehicle Diesel Fitters and Light/Medium Vehicle Fitters).

Part time roles will be offered under various arrangements including residentially based in Central Qld, Drive-In-Drive-Out (DIDO) and a limited Fly-in-Fly-Out (FIFO) from Brisbane or Cairns.
 

 

Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance, your duties will include: 

 

Responsible for preventative and breakdown maintenance of mining machinery, site infrastructure and support equipment Ensuring adequate scoping of corrective work to facilitate the planning process Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, our Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations Overriding commitment to BHP Charter, health, safety, environment and sustainable development Foster positive and productive working relationships and team culture Team members are expected to demonstrate focus on safety, achievement and team engagement in all aspects of their work Complete Field Leadership activities as per KPI’s Lead and support continuous improvement opportunities

 

 

As a part-time Mechanical Fitter, you would be required to perform a range of mostly 12.5 hour shifts, on rotating days only or day/night roster patterns. Examples of the rosters on offer include (but not limited to) the following:

 

7 Day / 7 off / 7 Nights / 35 days off   7 Day / 21 days off 3 Days / 3 Nights – 6 days on / 6 day off rotating


 

About You 

 


You will believe in the value of what a maintenance professional can bring to an organisation. The successful candidate will possess the following:

 

Mechanical Trade is essential C Class Drivers Licence is essential Ability to suitably work within planned or breakdown type maintenance environments Adaptable, team-orientated approach with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to safety Motivated individual who seeks a challenge and can work with minimal supervision Experience in or adaptable to learning work management software tools (e.g. 1SAP) Demonstrated computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) Previous experience with hydraulic systems, large excavators and drills would be advantageous Previous experience with light and medium vehicles would be advantageous Experience gained in a shutdown environment would be advantageous, but not essential
