Examples of Duties

The part-time photographer serves as a member of the college’s marketing team. The photographer oversees the daily operation of the photography office and is responsible for capturing and delivering dynamic photography to strengthen the college’s brand, bring the brand to life, share the college’s story, and advance the college’s priorities and goals.


The photographer collaborates with the marketing director, graphic designers, and web and digital team. The photographer occasionally leads large-scale photo shoots as part of campaigns and marketing efforts. The college photographer also ensures an effective system for gathering and turning around images daily as part of the marketing office’s brand and content strategy plans. 


A solution-oriented professional, the college photographer plans for and executes photoshoots and is the lead photographer on critical shoots. 


Pay Rate - $35/hr. - Part-time up to 29 hours per week based on events

Duties & Responsibilities:

Serves as lead photographer. Works with the Marketing Director, Graphic Designers, and Web and Digital team to bring creative vision to life. Translates marketing concepts into compelling imagery. Collaborates effectively with the Graphic Design team to move creative concepts to photographic production.Captures versatile imagery oriented toward use and appropriate in various media, including digital. Follows photography brand style guidelines.Partners with marketing and content teams to deploy the content strategy by capturing, editing, and delivering compelling imagery. Uses marketing and communications best practices to capture images to galvanize target audiences. Attends events on and off campus and captures images for marketing and communications materials. Identifies and partners with student photographers and freelancers as needed.Ensures projects are completed on time. It may require night and weekend work.Partners with the Web and Digital team to manage and leverage modern technology solutions. Responsible for ensuring systems allow for appropriate digitizing, archiving, and logging of multimedia content so it is searchable and well-maintained.Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Job-Specific Qualifications:

Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate photoshoot requests and schedules.Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under last-minute deadlines and changing priorities.Work within brand guidelines and understand marketing trends and their effects on photographic style. Understand in-shot composition with lighting, both studio and natural light. Have experience with shooting and editing. The candidate’s portfolio demonstrates multimedia aptitude and knowledge.Working knowledge of post-production and photo editing skills. Requires knowledge of photography-related software.Good written and verbal communication skills. Move with urgency, speed, and accuracy.Works collaboratively with diverse groups, from senior executives to administrative staff and volunteers.Manage stressful situations, solution-oriented with a positive attitude.Willingness to work some nights and weekends.Close visual acuity to perform tasks related to photography.Frequently moves equipment to various sites for shoots and events; ability to set up and break down equipment. Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. Able to be in a position to shoot a variety of images. Photo and video shoots may require standing, sitting, and kneeling for 4 to 6 hours.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience.At least three to five (3-5) years of professional photography experience, including a diverse mix of freelance commercial, photojournalism, lifestyle, action and portrait work. Track record of producing high-end imagery across the marketing and communications spectrum.Portfolio showing various work, including studio, set, and candid imagery. Working knowledge of a digital asset management system.
