Objective Provide the expertise and knowledge to teach non-credit courses in Basic Plumbing. This includes the use of plumbing tools; plumbing math; reading blueprints; using plastic/copper/cast iron/steel pipe and fittings; plumbing fixtures; drain and vent systems, and water distribution Essential Duties Teach non-credit classes; continuously review curriculum and methods to improve the quality of instruction; use a variety of hands-on teaching methods to train adults; evaluate student progress and constantly communicate with students and Blinn administration; keep accurate student records and certification files; other duties as assigned Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Texas Tradesman Plumber License; at least 36 months work experience as a licensed plumber; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively Preferred Experience and Training Prefer AA or higher degree; or Master Plumber License; at least five years work experience as a licensed plumber; experience training plumbing apprentices; experience teaching adults in a classroom setting Physical Requirements Ability to use a variety of hand tools and plumbing specific tools; able to lift 50 pounds to a height of three feet; Required Degree, License or Certifications High School Diploma or GED: Texas Tradesman Plumber License; Special Notes To Applicants Credentials The College assigns appropriately credentialed faculty members in support of educational quality and the mission of the College, in keeping with Board policy DBA LOCAL-X (Employment Requirements and Restrictions – Credentials and Records: Credentials).
