Position Summary
The City of Bozeman Recreation Team is now accepting applications for a year-round PT Recreation Leader who is responsible for planning, and implementing a wide variety of recreational activities, camps, programs, and special events. The ideal candidate will be creative, flexible, enjoy preparing lesson plans, promoting recreational activities, and interacting with a wide variety of community members, especially children.

Work Week: Maximum # of hours per week: 17.5 hours
Shift : Mid-Day Recreation Rockstar
When: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Time: 10:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Your Mission: Make mid-mornings and afternoons awesome for kids! Be the go-to for planning and running preschool and youth activities, with a side of gym oversight (pickleball, badminton, and basketball).
Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)
+ Provides a wide variety of recreational activities, classes, programs and special events for the general public;
+ Plans, organizes, coordinates, implements, evaluates and markets recreation programs within assigned areas, including preparing lesson plans and gathering necessary materials and equipment;
+ Promotes recreation activities through developing and disseminating information on scheduled events, including presentations to community groups, attending marketing events and fairs, responding to requests for information from the public, and ensuring a wide range of people are encouraged to participate in events;
+ Ensures the safety of all participants within an assigned recreation program, including maintaining the cleanliness and organization of equipment, materials, and facilities, performing minor equipment repair when necessary, and completing accident and incident reports;
+ Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar class of positions;
+ Performs First Aid and/or C.P.R. when necessary;
+ Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems;
+ Attends meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas;
+ Responds to citizens' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner;
+ Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities;
+ Performs other duties consistent with the role and function of this classification.
Minimum Required Qualifications
+ To comply with Child Labor Laws, must be at least 16 years of age;
+ Experience (at least 3 months) in leading recreational activities or child development;
+ OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Substantial knowledge of techniques used in the promotion of community, recreational and athletic events;
+ Some knowledge of child development and behavior;
+ Some knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn the current principles and practices involved in recreation programs and special events;
+ Some knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn, the goals and objectives of the Recreation Division;
+ Ability to perform basic First Aid and C.P.R.;
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned supervisors, other employees, and the general public;
+ Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language;
+ Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions;
+ Ability to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations;
+ Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions;
+ Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines;
+ Ability and willingness to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology;
+ Ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks;
+ Consistently performs assignments in accordance with the City's Core Values of Integrity, Leadership, Service and Teamwork.
Required Special Qualifications
+ First-Aid and C.P.R. Certifications are preferred or must be obtained within 3 mos. of employment (the City will assist you with obtaining this requirement);
+ Offers for employment are conditional upon satisfactory response to appropriate post conditional offer process.

1 FTE (40 hours per week)
A 1 FTE provides enrollment in an established retirement system with significant employer contribution (9.07%), ability to accrue 15 vacation days and 12 sick days per year, and excellent medical, dental and vision benefits!
.75 FTE (30 hours per week)
A .75 FTE provides enrollment in an established retirement system with significant employer contribution (9.07%), prorated vacation and sick time accruals, and medical, dental, and vision benefits with a 75% subsidy from the City.
.5 FTE (20 hours per week)
A .5 FTE provides enrollment in an established retirement system with significant employer contribution (9.07%), prorated vacation and sick time accruals, and medical, dental, and vision benefits with a 50% subsidy from the City.
less than .5 FTE (less than 20 hours per week)
A .46 or less FTE has the option to participate in an established retirement system with significant employer contribution, prorated vacation and sick time accruals, and holiday pay.
