Seeking a Part Time Cook to join our Buffalo Area Services.

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To maintain the Food Service program for Residential Services, providing all meals, including weekends, managing all inventories and maintaining sanitary conditions.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide day-to-day operations of the Food Service program, including but not limited to, cooking and preparation of all meals-including weekends, upkeep and cleaning of all kitchen areas, equipment, walk-in cooler and refrigerator in compliance with County and State requirementsProvide up-to-date inventory, rotating stock to ensure proper compliance with “use by” dates for perishable items, to maintain sanitary conditionsComplete order form biweekly to replenish needed supplies, give to supervisor for approvalPerform all duties pertaining to Food Service deliveriesSubmit updated weekly menusResponsible for daily transfer of prepared meals from the main kitchen to the Emergency Housing siteImplement Food Service system in compliance with accepted sanitary, environmental and bacteriological safeguards, controls and practices established by policyEnsure that all equipment is in good working order and notify supervisor of any needed repairsProvide results of mandated medical testing and inoculations: TINE testing every 2 years and Tetanus every 10 yearsProvide supervisor with all information needed for timely and accurate ordering of daily and Holiday meal suppliesResponsible for preparation of the weekly meals during the Street Feeding seasonPrepare and serve Thanksgiving and Christmas dinnerPossess and maintain Serv-Safe certificationAttend appropriate workshops and/or training sessions as providedAttend staff meetings as appropriateParticipate in all other duties and activities as requested or assigned

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

·         High School Diploma/GED

·         1 to 2 years direct experience

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as mathematical abilities (weights and measures)

·         Must be able to use commercial kitchen equipment and step ladder
