Part-Time Teaching Opportunity – Digital Media Design, Fall 2024
Part time instructor for digital media design program for Fall 2024 at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH. All courses have a course enrollment cap of 15-18 students. The courses we are looking to staff are: Introduction to digital media design (DMD 100), Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:25-10:40 AM: The course is an introduction to visual literacy, communication and its structures. The course will examine theories and concepts of perception, psychology, perspective, and elements of graphic and web design, photography, film and video, and interactive media. Students will be introduced to an understanding of the language, theory, and practice in these areas of digital media, while working to develop their ability to visualize, understand, analyze, critique and create content. Web Design (DMD 220), Tuesdays & Thursdays, 12:15 – 1:30 PM: This course continues from DMD 120 where students developed UX/UI skills in the research, planning, prototyping, and testing stages of web design. Here, students continue the web design workflow and learn how to design, build, and launch custom websites. Students will explore complex web design concepts visually and by writing code. The course focusses on HTML, CSS and JavaScript; responsive web design; accessibility; flexbox; content management systems; and CSS grids. Course projects are built on teamwork and collaboration. Introduction to Data Visualization (DMD 250), Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1:40-2:55 PM: Data presentation can be done creatively, combining a wide range of visual elements that aid in ready understanding. Students will use a variety of tools, which employ such devices as maps, photos and illustrations, as they become familiar with methods of data visualization. No coding or technical skills are needed to be successful in this course. Prerequisite DMD100 or instructor's permission. Possible future spring courses may be available. Experience and Qualifications: + Master's degree in a related field.
