Sylvan Learning of Lima, Wapakoneta, and Delphos is a locally owned learning center serving a diverse group of K-12 students. Essential Job Functions:

Greets students and initiates instruction to personally engage each studentManages students, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional sessionEvaluates and records the progress of each student on their program assignmentUses praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learnMotivates students with Sylvan tokens given for specific achievements according to the Sylvan instructional management standardsManages the conclusion of each instructional session and manages the completion of learning log and transition activitiesCommunicates specific student needs to Center staffAttends periodic staff meetings and completes ongoing training as neededCompletes certification training on each Sylvan program taught to studentsKNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Language Arts Tutors:

Four-year degree or equivalent requiredTeaching credential (current or expired) strongly preferredMinimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferredKnowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers

Math Tutors:

Four-year degree required in a discipline requiring 3 or more years of college level math

Science Tutors:

Four-year degree required in a discipline requiring 2 or more years of college level science

Test Prep Tutors:

Four-year degree or equivalent preferredStrong academic credentials required

Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree requiredProven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learnStrong interpersonal and communication skillsProven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexibleStrong problem solving and customer service skillsStrong team player

Lima, Wapakoneta and Delphos

Schedule and Compensation:

We offer instruction in person M-TH from 9am-2pm, 4-8pm, Friday 9am-2pm 4-6pm and Sat. from 8am-12pm. During the summer we also have instruction M-F 9-1pm (No ,Saturday instruction in the summer). We are looking for tutors who are available for some or all of these hours! Salary: $14-16 per/hour.
