Parts Manager

As the Parts Manager at Butler Machinery, you strive for the best customer experience, both for our external customers and your Parts team members.  You will supervise the Parts Department, positively influencing the lives of your team members and actively building your team through hiring, training, and developing Parts team members skills.  Behind the scenes, you manage the machine technology ordering and product supply to ensure your team can meet external customer expectations.   You will work with other managers to foster teamwork between the Parts and Service departments.  Put your ability to work and apply today!


General Responsibilities:

Takes an active role in providing a safe and healthy work environment within the department and store.  Develops business plans and departmental goals which promote growth and provide an opportunity for the department to stretch beyond the status quo. Monitors actual performance against those goals and adjusts retail and operational parameters to provide the best chance of meeting plan. Has primary responsibility to grow sales within the parts department and a secondary responsibility to assist in the sales growth of all departments within the store.    Monitors Key Performance Indicators and associated reports for variances. Using this data make changes to operational practices to correct deficiencies and improve performance. Responsible for creating an atmosphere within the department and the store that generates a high level of Customer Experience.        This includes resolving customer disputes which ensure fair value for the customer and companyDetermines and reacts to the needs of the department relating to tooling, training, personnel levels, hours of service. Maintains close cooperation and communication with Service and Sales departments regarding their needs in order to maximize parts availabilityMaintains safe, clean, and orderly work environment which follow Caterpillar’s contamination control procedures.  Working Manager; fills in and performs the duties hourly staff has delegated and assigned to support day to day operations of the parts departmentPerforms additional duties as assigned by Store Manager to include special projects and in-store and related to corporate initiatives. Performs duties required of all hourly classifications to include counter, customer, and warehouse operations along with department management responsibilities Works within and promotes vision, mission, and values of Butler. 

Supervisory Duties

Responsibility of all aspects of Parts Department Supervision, including but not limited to, recruiting talent, employee relations, individual development, performance measuring, coaching, technical training, disciplinary action and termination.  Screen, interview and hire employees for department. Manages parts department schedules considering the balance between customer satisfaction and employees work / life balance.   This includes monitoring and controlling OT. Provide regular and timely feedback of positive customer experience, performance accomplishments, and demonstrations of Butler Values in Action.        Promote a healthy work environment.        Provide yearly performance reviews and identify opportunities and develop a plan for employees to reach their next level of proficiency.  Select, train and develop employees consistent with department/division goals, providing coaching on career development.
 

Qualifications: 

Prior supervisory experience or leadership training preferredDemonstrated ability in customer relationsAbility to work in a cooperative manner with all levels and all departments Strong verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated business acumen, analytical mindset and proven decision maker. Ability to effectively handle conflict situations Preference for operational knowledge of practices and procedures normally obtained through 5-7 years’ experience in parts department, warehousing, or purchasing position Parts experience with the Caterpillar product lines as well as the Ag lines we represent preferredSolid computer competencies Must have strong attention to detail and solid organizational skillsAbility and willingness to work flexible hoursMust possess and maintain a clean driving record
