Essential Functions:
Painter duties and responsibilities
• Ability to clearly read and understand specific Work Instructions
• Communicating with Supervisor and engineering to determine their
painting requirements and helping them make the best decisions for their
projects
• Prior experience in auto body painting is required
• Covering other surfaces assembly as required with masking tape, drop
cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint
• Turning on ventilation and wearing a respirator as required along with other
safety equipment to protect Painters from in paint booth
• Preparing surfaces to be painted by cleaning them, sanding, deburring,
filling holes and cracks, until they’re smooth
• Applying primer and other sealers if stated on Work Instructions to paint
surfaces to ensure that paint sticks to them
• Mixing and matching paint or other finishes to job specifications
• Applying paint and other finishes to paint surfaces using paintbrushes,
rollers or sprayers
• Maintaining an inventory of supplies like paint brushes, rollers and assorted
necessary supplies.
• Removing old finish using scrapers or chemical compounds
• Assist with estimating time and material costs on painting projects
• Cleaning machines, equipment and work areas using water, solvents and
other cleaning aids
• Reviewing and implementing work orders and assignments
• Removing and reinstalling fixtures (e..g, screws, bolts, covers) as necessary
• Following safeguards, rules and regulations
• Assembly as required
• Work in other areas of the factory as required
