This position will work primarily in the field as a Party Chief of a two or three person field crew.

Responsibilities Provide direction to field crew members on project tasks in day-to-day field operations. Mentor and train crew members in mapping or surveying methods and equipment usage and maintenanceRecord crew timesheet dailyPerform mathematical calculations and checking of field dataTake accurate and clear notes with sketchesRead and understand civil and construction plans and specificationsMaintain field equipment, tools, and vehicleChecks and verifies the work of the teamObtains land survey data such as angles, elevations, points, contours, and land boundaries using data collectors, Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, levels, and GPS-RTK Receivers.Responsible for field work as assigned by the Field Coordinator, Project Manager, or supervisor to include construction staking, topo, boundary, and other types of work.Records all field data and information and ensures it is transmitted to the office in the appropriate formatEnsures the crew utilizes the appropriate equipment, personnel, and procedures to maximize efficiency and accuracy in the execution of land surveys. Qualifications High school diploma or GED certification5 years experienceAbility to recognize the most efficient and safest method to acquire survey dataProactive approach to managing job responsibilities and crewExperience in boundary, topographic and construction stakingExperience in the operation of surveying instruments and calculatorsProficiency in operating levels and in the use of Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, preferably Leica Total Station, Leica GPS (connected to Leica SmartNet GPS network)Knowledge of basic sources of measurement errors and principles of monumentation & construction stakingMust be able to work in all types of weather conditions and terrains on a consistent basis and for extended periods of time.Must be able to lift and carry survey equipment up to 35 lbs. on a consistent basis.Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees in the organization, both verbally and written.Ability to lead and work effectively in a teamMust be dependable and reliable Preferred Qualifications Experience with Leica products
