The Dotter Department of Interventional Radiology is a part of the OHSU School of Medicine, with its own admitting service and clinic. We provide all the diagnostic angiographic, interventional radiologic, and neurointerventional services to the OHSU and VA Hospitals.
The PAS Specialist provides administrative support to the Interventional Radiology clinic and related scheduling functions, as well as providing occasional back-up coverage for authorizations and referrals. This position gathers and records required information about IR patient; provides specific customer services which include screening for financial eligibility, confirming health insurance coverage and the individual’s obligations; scheduling appointments and assisting patients in the office/clinic setting.
This position is directly involved with clinic scheduling and primarily being the first point of contact for the clinic phones. The PAS Specialist will utilize hospital system software, i.e. Epic, Visage, Microsoft Office, and other necessary systems.
The customer service responsibilities include but are not limited to a) answering and triaging phone calls; b) scheduling new consultations and follow-up appointments; c) arranging diagnostic testing; d) checking patients in and out; e) confirming health insurance coverage and patient obligations; f) obtaining necessary
referral information; g) and other miscellaneous administrative support duties to support the IR practice.

Gather/verify patient insurance information and demographics
Assist managed care coordinator with obtaining authorizations for consultations, office visits, procedures, clinical care, and diagnostic and lab studies
Assist with follow-up on pending authorizations until they are obtained
Applies problem solving and negotiating skills in resolving patient concerns and managed care related problems
Required Qualifications Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR One year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position.Note: Successful completion of a formal OHSU Administrative Internship Program will substitute for one year of experience.Knowledge and Skills Required:
Basic computer keyboarding skills including typing of 30 - 45 wpm.Knowledge of computer systems; Windows, MS office applications, EPIC or other EMR systems Exceptional customer service skillsExperience with multi-line phones Effectively communicate written and verbally Ability to work independently and in a group setting Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalentExperience with high volume call center and/or managing multiple phone linesMedical terminology Additional DetailsWork schedule is Monday-Friday.
