Pastoral Care Director

Job Summary

Provide a total pastoral care program for patients, families and staff at CAMC, utilizing the resources which promote health and wholeness, functioning as an integral member of the CAMC health care team and enabling ministry within the Medical Center by community ministers.

 

Responsibilities

· Plan, Direct, Implement, Coordinate, and Improve Services Of Assigned Department

· Provide a total pastoral care program for patients of CAMC involving clergy within the community.

· Provide religious counseling and guidance.

· Coordinate on-call Chaplains serving all 3 divisions of CAMC.

· Coordinate pastoral care activities with those of other departments.

· Provide a liaison service between hospital medical staff and patient.

· Serve on hospital and medical Committees as requested.

· Maintain chairmanship of the On-Call Chaplains (clergy) and assist the Director of Volunteers with patient concern (laity) and Pastoral Care volunteers.

· Provide formal and informal religious service.

· Provide scheduled religious services.

· Manage the department budget.

· Maintain department, institution, and licensure (if applicable) required education, document appropriately.

· Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations.

· Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution.

· Participate in the education of students, residents, fellows, and other learners in areas of subject matter expertise.

· Support bedside and didactic education of learners at Vandalia care sites as appropriate. 

· Perform work in a cost-effective manner.

· Perform related duties as assigned.  

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Competency Statement

Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.

8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable.
9. Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Education 

• Master's Degree (Required) Education: Masters Degree - Divinity - Theology or its Equivalent From a Recognized Seminary - Divinity School or College of Theology or other Related Degree - Four Units of Clinical Pastoral Education. Level of Experience: 3 Years - Pastoral Care and Management (Hospital Based)
