The successful candidate:
This is a Full-time position where you will work an 8-hour shift between the hours of 5:30a - 6:30pm, Monday - Friday and rotating weekends.
The Pastry Chef duties include preparing food and beverage products that are nutritious, visually appealing, and delicious, catering to customers and patients with specialized dietary needs. They ensure adherence to the organization's Food and Dietetic nutritional guidelines, maintain compliance with all relevant sanitation, health, and personal hygiene regulations, and fulfill additional daily responsibilities as directed by management.
Utilize the Culinary department's established recipes, production sheets, and diet orders to prepare food and beverage items for various services, including but not limited to, the cafe hot line, buffet, grill, catered functions, and special requests.
Ensure the nutritional content is appropriate by adhering to the organization's established food and dietary nutritional guidelines.
Be kind and courteous when responding to customer inquiries, maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
Follow proper food storage procedures in line with ServSafe and other established guidelines. Label, date, and correctly store food to prevent waste and spoilage.
Clean and sanitize the area after food preparation and the cooking process to maintain sanitary working conditions.
Use ServSafe and other established guidelines to monitor and verify all temperature-controlled equipment, ensuring that all patient and buffet meals are served at the correct temperatures and recorded on the temperature sheet/log for adherence.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
Culinary Arts education preferred
ServeSafe preferred.
Minimum Experience
1 year of experience in Food and Beverage/Hospitality/High-volume hospital cafeteria setting, preferredKnowledge, Skills, Abilities
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong customer services skills
Ability to work well on a team
Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office suite
Strong attention to detail and organizational and time management skills
Ability to be flexible, adapting to changing conditions in a fast-paced environment
