PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Baker shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. 

This position prepares quality bakery items such as breakfast items, cakes, frostings, fondant work, cookies, amenities, and special request items.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely.Meet with the Executive Pastry Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes and other information pertinent to the job performance.Complete Opening/Closing Duties:
- Inspect the cleanliness and working conditions of all tools, equipment and supplies.
- Check production schedule and par
- Establish priority items for the day.Prepare all menu items following recipes, according to departmental standards.Inform the Executive Pastry Chef of any foreseeable shortages before items run out.Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department and hotel requirements.Minimize waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food cost.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE  

Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.High School diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as Pastry CookCertification of culinary training or apprenticeship preferred.Food handling certificate required.

Compensation Range: $15.50/hour
