Pastry Cook

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Inspect the cleanliness and working conditions of all tools, equipment and supplies. Establish priority items for the day. Inform the Executive Chef of any supplies that need to be requisitioned.Prepare amazing pastries, breads and desserts from scratch following our recipes and yield guides to produce consistent results.Keeping a clean, neat and orderly production area, storage area, including walk-in coolers/freezers.Prepare customer orders, ensuring orders are completed on time and to the customer’s satisfaction.Minimize wasteMaintain proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department.Work with Executive Chef to maintain appropriate inventory.Maintain a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members.Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and TCC requirements.Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely.Bring creative ideas and have decorating skills.

Education, Experience and Abilities:

High School Diploma or GED EquivalentCertification of culinary training or apprenticeship preferred.Must have a minimum of 1-3 years of kitchen/mixing experience.Demonstrates a high level of pastry skills and operations.Be able to plan and prepare products.Must be able to multitask and work in a fast paced environment.Work independently, exercising judgment and initiativeValid Food Handler’s Card required within 30 days.Must be able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays as dictated by events.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for long hours. Stooping and lifting is also required. Must be able to lift 30 pounds to the waist.

Working Conditions:  Fast-paced, very physical environment.  May be exposed to extreme cold from walk-in coolers/freezers for up to one hour at a time. May be exposed to extreme heat from hot burners and/or steam for extended periods of time. May be exposed to minimal amount of smoke for extended periods of time. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals. Requires standing for several hours at a time each day.
