Nelson Mullins Law Firm is seeking a Patent Agent with an engineering degree and/or computer science degree with at least two years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution to work with attorneys in Minneapolis, Charlotte, and Boston offices.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you will collaborate with attorneys and clients in various industries, including the medical device industry, electronics industry, among others. Technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or a related field is preferred. The Firm will consider remote or hybrid applicants in any location where the Firm has a local office, but would prefer such applicants to be in the Minneapolis, Charlotte, or Boston areas.
Utilizing your patent prosecution experience, you will work with a collaborative team to build and manage U.S. and international patent portfolios. A strong team player, you will work closely with team attorneys on finding solutions and opportunities for clients with diverse needs, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting due diligence investigations, and performing freedom-to-operate and landscape analyses.
We Know You
You have at least two years of experience practicing in the area of patent preparation and prosecution while holding an undergraduate degree in engineering. You have excellent academic credentials and your writing and analytical skills are strong. It is strongly preferred that you are registered to practice before the USPTO. A background in mechanical, electrical, or biomedical engineering is preferred, but not required.
