Pathologists' Assistant
Job Summary New Increased Rates! Available Pathologists' Assistant Positions: M-F 8AM-4:30PM, with rare potential coverage 9:30AM-6PM; No Call; No Weekends; No Holidays M-F 9:30AM-6PM; No Call; No Weekends; No Holidays Examines, dissects and performs gross descriptions on surgical specimens under the supervision of the Pathologists. Performs and records findings on post-mortem examinations. Photographs surgical and autopsy specimens. Procures tissue for Tissue Bank. Verifies surgical pathology specimen billing. Assists Pathologists in various duties as needed. #READ Qualifications Education Requirements 4 year/Bachelor's Degree Experience Experience grossing simple to complex specimens Certification and Licensure ASCP Pathologist Assistant Certification within 1 year of hire Required Skills Dictation and Transcription Skills Excellent Communications Skills Excellent Interpersonal Skills General Clerical Skills Microsoft Office Applications Multi Line Telephone Operational Skills Overview Reading Hospital's Laboratory is CAP accredited offering specialized testing, lab automation, and state of the art equipment. The lab offers cross training opportunities and the opportunity to be part of cross-function process improvement teams. In Fiscal Year 2023, the lab performed 8.5 million tests (including Chemistry, Cytology, Flow Cytometry, Hematology, Coagulation, Histology, Microbiology, Point of Care Testing, Transfusion Services and Urinalysis), 122,751 Anatomical Pathology tests, and 404,139 combined inpatient & outpatient phlebotomy draws. The department consists of over 200 medical laboratory professionals.
