Pathology Assistant

We are seeking a Pathology Assistant to join the LabCorp team in Knoxville, Tennessee, where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical laboratory services.  Our services are performed with the utmost care, expertise, integrity and respect for the patient.

The schedule for this position is 2nd shift/Evenings working 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm with rotating Saturdays (every third Saturday to begin/eventually working every fourth - Saturday start time is 8:00 am and work until all grossing that can be completed is done (typically 4 to 5 hours) with the following Monday off) .

Job Responsibilities

Grossing specimens from a level 1 trauma center with nine centers of excellence incuding a very active cancer center. We are a hybrid facility with outside specimens as well as specimens from clinics, surgery centers, and physician offices. Gross frozen section specimens with pathologist instructions. No in house autopsies.Possible exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens; regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases; must comply with applicable safety procedures.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Biological, Chemical or a related life scienceASCP Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant or eligibleMust be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

FLU - New Team Members will be required to present proof of influenza immunization or will be given the influenza vaccine during the pre-employment screening by Occupational Medicine or during hospital orientation between September 1 and March 31. Dates may be extended based upon community flu burden. New Team Members employed outside of months when influenza vaccine is available will be informed of the policy and will be expected to comply with vaccination the next influenza season.
