We are urgently seeking a Pathology Assistant to join our team. This role involves the gross examination of specimens, describing tissue samples, dictating and cutting specimens, and assisting with morgue processes. Duties include a complete knowledge of necropsy and histology procedures. Participates in all laboratory procedures, including necropsy and gross surgical dissections.
The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree, ASCP or AAPA certification, and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with EPIC and Dragon transcription systems is highly preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform gross examination and preparation of histology specimens.
- Accurately describe tissue samples and perform dictations.
- Cut and embed specimens for further analysis.
- Assist with morgue duties, including lifting and transporting remains and releasing remains to designated areas.
- Pick up specimens from the OR every morning and assist with morgue processes 2-3 times a week.
-Accurately performs gross examination of surgical pathology specimens, per department protocol and/or competencies.
-Provides necropsy assistance, including brain and spinal cord removal, per department protocol and/or competencies.
-Assists in technical work in the Histology Lab while maintaining laboratory standards in the areas of processing, embedding, microtomy, and routine/special staining.
-Sections and stains intra-operative frozen sections per department protocol and/or competencies.
-Accurately performs daily workload statistics.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00
