In this role, the Lab Support Service Tech will complete accessioning of surgical pathology specimens into the Anatomic Pathology information system (CoPath). Provides outstanding customer service to any person requesting supplies or information by telephone, computer, or in person
What you'll do
Responsible for accurately maintaining and filing all glass tissue slides, and paraffin tissue blocks generated by the department of pathology.Duties include numerical assembly by case year, tracking of specimens, and maintenance of filing locations.Performs duties for pre-analytic testing according to standard operating procedures.Receives and evaluates all specimens to ensure positive identification and appropriateness of sample.Interacts positively with customers. Works with fellow team members to properly triage and efficiently move samples through the pre-analytic phase of testing or diagnosis.Accurately orders and receives specimens for outside patients with proper client and diagnostic information to assure proper billing and reporting.Understands and uses the laboratory computer system to provide accurate information for testing, tracking, reporting and billing.Assist with scanning of slides into Leica Aperio storage, or similar system as neededHere's what you'll''ll need
Required:
High School Diploma or GED is required.Prior knowledge of laboratory testing and specimen processing.Preferred:
One year of, clinical, or public health laboratory experience ORCompletion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical PathologyOREquivalent education/experience.Experience/Skills
Required:
