Job DescriptionThe Cytogenetics Laboratory, located at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, is seeking a Pathology Office Coordinator to join our team! The lab is a high priority lab dealing with a variety of patient samples that need rapid results. As a part of our growing team, you will be directly responsible for supporting the Cytogenetics lab processes and will provide administrative support for the attending’ clinical workflows and review of Cytogenetics cases. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, ability to multitask, and an understanding of lab policies and procedures.
Role Overview:
Researches and compiles data from pathology computer system and various libraries for presentation at conferences, staff meetings, workshops and lectures. Assist Fellows with assigned research projects. Prepares slides for conferences, presentations and articlesAssists in submitting papers by preparing ‘face sheets’. Prepares per specific guidelines and in a timely manner, as specified by publication deadlines.Establishes database of abstracts on file. Establish and maintain reference card file of correspondence and bibliographies. Prepare correspondence, charts or other narrative and statistical materials.Creates documents (letters, correspondence, book chapters) that are neat, well-formatted accurate and within time frame established by author. Proofreads all documents prior to submission and assures correct grammar, spelling and usage. Uses appropriate reference manuals to verify accuracy (medical dictionary). Follows up with author on missing or unclear informationProvides telephone coverage, uses correct telephone techniques and procedures when receiving and making calls.Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred; however, candidates with a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of laboratory experience or a science/medical background will also be consideredAny other qualifications?Core Skills:
Medical Terminology, knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, Internet Library Resource), academic and research proceduresExcellent typing and communication skills.Ability to work independently.Ability to prioritize work.Additional Information:
Location: 425 East 68th Street, 5th floor A538Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, with flexibility to work between 7 AM and 7 PM, as well as occasional Saturdays.
Pay Range: $23.03-$34.67
