Pathology Technician

About the Role: We are looking for a Pathology Technician who will be a member of the Pathology team and will, in partnership with pathologists, pathology scientists, pathology technicians, research scientists, study directors and engineers, support medical device research and development. This person will have demonstrated the ability to perform post-mortem examinations of various laboratory animal species and humans, accurately perform data entry activities, and “gross-in” specimens in preparation for histological processing. They will also demonstrate the ability to perform various laboratory procedures including, but not limited to, histomorphometry, digital radiography, and tissue perfusion. Attributes of a successful applicant include attention to detail and accuracy, ability to effectively manage their time, have a growth mindset, be an excellent team player and have excellent communication skills.

 

This role will be located at our Science Center facility in Flagstaff, Arizona. ​​

 

Responsibilities:  Primary responsibility is post-mortem examination of various laboratory animal species, their organs/tissues and implanted medical devices Accurate and concise data entry into appropriate forms Perform various laboratory procedures (tissue profusion, digital x-ray operation, etc.) Operate and maintain laboratory equipment Collect histomorphometric data using a quantitative image analysis system (Bioquant) Support the clinical return and archiving processes Grossing in specimens (tissues, devices) Participate in writing/reviewing/revising standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols as needed Support the ex vivo process as needed (tissue preparation for example)

Required Qualifications: 

Bachelor's of Science in Biology or related Life Science OR Associate’s Degree in Biology or related life science and experience in animal and/or human anatomy Experience in a laboratory setting Working knowledge of laboratory animal and/or human anatomy Minimum 1 year of demonstrated documentation and data collection experience in a laboratory, clinical or regulated environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently as well as with a small team Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive environment that engages and empowers fellow associates Ability to lift approximately 50lbs independently, and 80lbs with assistance Ability to travel up to 5%
