Position Responsibilities
Ensures all co-workers are aware of special request (i.e. Private rooms issues, VIP status, special needs), unscheduled registrations, and/or add-onsReceives reservations for admissions from physicians and/or their office and assigns beds per hospital policyAssign bed on date of admission according to medical necessity, sex and patient preference and completes admissions logEnsures transfers from other facilities are properly authorized and processed on a timely basisEffectively communicates with ER and nursing station in regards to transfers and discharges and ensures collection of deposits and correct accommodation codesObtain request from nursing station, physician of patient for room transferAssign new room based on medical necessity, sex and patient preferenceComplete transfer log at time of transfer and maintain transfer log sheet for all patients being transferred dailyTransfers patient in the HBOC/Star System and ensures selection of correct accommodation codesObtains all information concerning patients transferring from other hospitals, informs appropriate contacts at sending hospital to transfer stats within policyCollects accurate and complete patient information (i.e. legal name, permanent/local address, phone number, next of kin, employer, guarantor, insurance information, physicians etcand enters in system within established time framesVerifies insurance information, which include eligibility, benefits (i.e. Deductible, co-payment, out of pocket expenses, maximum lifetime coverage, exclusion/limitations/pre-existing conditions, etcand obtains appropriate referrals, pre-certification and/or authorizations for all patients as follows: Scheduled patients no later than 24 hoursUnscheduled patients at point of service within the established time framesEnters complete insurance verification information, which include eligibility, benefits (i.e. Deductibles, co-payments, out of pocket expenses, maximum lifetime coverage, exclusion/limitations/pre-existing conditions, etcin the insurance screen and note fieldsAfter completion of registration process ensures that an identification bracelet has been placed on all patients, paying special attention to all incoherent/confused patients who require two identification bracelets one on the patient's wrist and one on the patient's ankleAfter completion of the registration process ensures all registration documents, as well as orders, accompany the patient to appropriate area (i.e. nursing units, ancillary department, etcCommunicates all pertinent information regarding the patient to the appropriate departments or patient care unitsPrior to the end of shift conducts self audit of all registrations to insure that information is accurate and complete, maintain less than a 5% error ratioForwards copies to immediate supervisor with supportive information of incomplete tasksRequest and assign beds in the Pre-Admit Tracking and EPIC systemsReviews/oversees cash collection and cash receipts Journal PolicyMinimum Requirements:
One year practical experience in computer usage.One year prior experience in registration collections and insurance verifications preferred.Excellent communication and customer service skills.High school graduate or equivalent level of training. Some college preferredBenefits
