Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Access Coordinator - Full Time Days 10AM-6PM; T/W/Th/F/Sat - Patient Access - FIN-Patient Ac.

In this role, the successful candidate In collaboration with the Director of Admitting, is responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing, training and reviewing the activities of personnel engaged in registering patients in the patient access areas. Works as a liaison to staff from department director to carry out process changes. Assures that the registration information gathered is complete and accurate to fulfil the requirements for the Medical Staff, Medical records, census and financial statistics. Has a positive effect for the financial reimbursement. Performs other clerical duties and as a patient access clerk.

Job Responsibilities:

Trains new patients access staff in registration technique. Reviews daily work for accuracy and completeness. Holds regularly scheduled departmental staff meetings with agenda, attendance and minutes, to exchange departmental and Medical Center information. Create and post the monthly work schedule for staff. Visits staff on alternate shifts and days on a bimonthly basis to observe, offer assistance and give support. Is available on-call for all shifts to solve problems and staffing issues. Coordinates with other departments to solve problems, make suggestions for improvement, and comply with standards. Makes sure that staff comply with fire, disaster, safety, infection control, education Participates in service training and outside meetings and seminars to improve skills. Actively participates in recognizing and rewarding staff, and uses recognition tools consistently and appropriately. Departmental training manual is given to each new access clerk. Modules are followed and signed off during the probationary period so each person is trained equally. Resource manual is created and updated regularly so registrars can locate the process for any function performed in the department. Identify problem areas within and outside of department and uses problem solving techniques to correct. Organizes workload, uses time efficiently and effectively. Responsive to directors work assignments in a timely and professional manner and personally ensures that actions taken are compliant. Demonstrates willingness to spend the necessary time & effort to improve department. Communication with staff is done in a professional, respectful manner always considering cultural differences. Necessary verbal or written comments are clear, concise, appropriate and beneficial. Demonstrates initiative-works independently. Demonstrates ability to separate personal differences from coordinators position. Asks appropriate questions to obtain correct identification information. Enters emergency contact information Obtains current insurance information Asks appropriate questions to complete the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire. Interprets HDX and Medicaid responses Educates patients on documents Forms are signed and witnessed as required

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency.
Two to three years progressively more responsible directly related work experiences.
Analytical skills necessary to resolve more complex registration problems, ability to create better systems.
Interpersonal skills to deal effectively and fairly with a wide variety of hospital personnel, in order to ensure the smooth exchange of information.
Customer Service and Medical Terminology experience.
Ability to learn quickly as technology and insurance requirements change.
Computer and keyboarding experience.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $48,243.00 - $48,243.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
