Position Summary: A Patient Access Clerk is a specialized health care professional who is responsible for obtaining and verifying patient demographic and insurance information to ensure proper billing of patient account as well as a means of contacting the patient in regards to their treatment and/or billing issues. Patient Access Clerks are the front line of Marshall Medical Centers and expected to be an exemplary model of customer service.
Primary Responsibilities:
Verifying Demographic patient information including address, phone number, insuranceObtaining pre-certs and insurance authorizations for scheduled proceduresCollection of co-pays, deductibles, and depositsDirecting and escorting patients and visitors to designated locationsProvides a resource for billing and payment inquiresOversees cashier responsibilities in posting payments and creating deposits facility specificMaintains accuracy through provided vendor service and department policyComplete all required annual competenciesAdheres to Hospital procedure in regards to requirements for outpatient ordersObtains room assignments through provided vendor services and communicates admissions to appropriate Nursing and clinical staff
