Job Overview:

Performs all duties related to the pre-registration, registration, and financial clearance processes for all patients (emergency, ambulatory and in[1]patients). Responsible for collecting proper data to insure hospital bills will be paid by a third party payer or the patient. Provides front-door customer service to patients and orients patients to the registration/admission process. Performs scheduling functions of new and follow-up patients and discharges patients accordingly. Responsible for identifying, collecting and reconciling patient liabilities on a routine basis. Corresponds with Supervisor/Manager on operational issues as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

Strong level of customer service skillExperience in data entry and computer skills

Preferred:

Knowledgeable of medical insurance and medical terminology.Work experience in patient registration

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift: DaysFull-Time, 37.5 hours per week

Essential Functions:

Answers the telephone courteously and in a timely manner.Demonstrates and maintains the current knowledge of Insurance Companies, State and Federal Healthcare Regulations and requirementsDemonstrates the ability to collect the required co-pay/fees and provide receipts accurately.Demonstrates the ability to enter patient s demographic/insurance information in the computer system(SMS) accurately and timelyDemonstrates the ability to verify patient s insurance benefits and obtains the appropriate pre certs/authorizations, and /or referrals as required by the insurance carrierGreets and assists patients/visitors in a courteous and timely mannerObtains Advance Medial Directives if available and scans them into RAS accurately.Ensures that the patient or responsible party signs all appropriate documents (i.e. consent forms, bill of rights, etc.) scans them inot RASI, and places them in the chart accurately and timely.
