Job Overview:

The Patient Access Representative I position plays a key role in the health system and in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing all necessary data timely. The Patient Access Representative I is responsible to greet all patients in a timely and friendly manner.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

Knowledge of EMRPrevious work experience in a medical setting performing patient registration and schedulingFamiliar with Medical Terminology and Insurance payorsfamiliar with the computer and possess a good data entry skill

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift: Days, hours can vary between 8:00am-5:00pm depending on coverage needMonday through Friday, depending on coverage needPer Diem

Essential Functions:

Block and manage scheduling system for providers when needed.Complete monthly appointment reports.Handle all incoming phone calls and/or emails regarding scheduling appointments.Manage department UBER rides for all patients receiving treatmentOrganize all new patient documentation and present to Medical Director for scheduling with specialty Physicians.Track all reschedules and monitor no-shows trends and report to Director monthly.Retrieve medical records for new patientProvides excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues and other external and internal customers Interviews patients, family members and other responsible parties to gather pertinent demographic and financial information, for scheduling , pre-registration and/or registration based on assigned workObtains and accurately documents all demographic information Obtains insurance information and initiates the verification process via third party clearinghouseCompletes verification of coverage of all insurances and financial clearance activity has been completedMeets and exceeds department goals including accuracy, point of service collections and productivityEnsures all required forms are provided, reviewed, properly explained and signed by the patient or an approved person on behalf of the patientInforms patient of financial responsibility and collects appropriate dollar amount for services to be rendered
