The Patient Access Representative is responsible for pre-registration, registration and admission functions for Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center.
What you will do
Verify insurance requirements; obtain and understand insurance benefits
Responsible for upfront collections, co-pays and deductibles
Ensure that all entries concerning demographic, financial and advanced directives are accurate
Interview all patients to obtain demographic and financial information, inputs data into EMR system. Identifies party that can legally authorize services. Sort and distribute all appropriate copies and completes all phases of registration process, i.e. other papers, patient bracelet, patient rights, Health Care Proxy info
Explain hospital policies or regulations concerning valuables, patient’s rights, health care proxy, Notice to Medicare beneficiaries, and hospital mission
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, college preferred
Medical terminology skills
Relevant medical office, hospital / physicians billing or patient registration experience preferred
Position Highlights and Benefits
32 Hours per Week - evenings rotating schedule including every other weekend in the ED
Initial TRAINING requires 2 weeks of Mon-Fri dayshift
Additional EPIC training will be required including daytime hours and some time in CT
