**PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must live within commuting distance of the Warren Clinic Tower in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as this position will be onsite for the first few months of training.

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm

Job Summary: The Patient Access Scheduler I (Diagnostic) coordinates scheduling of multiple outpatient diagnostic appointments across the health system.  This role delivers a positive customer service experience by scheduling appointments effectively and efficiently for patients.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment such as hospital, physician office or imaging facility.  Clerical, customer service/support, data entry or call center environment experience, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication, telephone, customer relations and organizational skills.  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  Working knowledge of hospital diagnostic departments.  Working understanding of insurance plans.  Knowledge of medical terminology.  Working knowledge of basic business office equipment.  Ability to perform telephone activities concurrent with computer activities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Coordinates accurate scheduling of multiple outpatient diagnostic appointments for locations and departments across the health system, schedules appointments based on availability of resources and in a manner that reduces delay of services.  Accepts and prioritizes incoming phone calls; triages information for urgent procedure requests and sends critical requests for supplies and services to appropriate personnel to enable early ordering and to complete pre-authorization processes.  Obtains necessary and required information defined by department procedures and provides instructions, as directed.  Schedules correct procedures and enters orders accurately and efficiently into the clinical system meeting established productivity standards; accurately identifies patient in Master Patient Index system and assigns correct Medical Record and Account Number.  Serves as liaison and communication point for all entities, staff, offices, other SFHS departments, and employees in an effort to provide a single point of contact for coordination of scheduling functions. Communicates changes to schedules early and accurately to maximize scheduling efficiency.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.

Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers.  Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction.  Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.   Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
