Patient Access Specialist
Description We are providing a long term contract employment opportunity for a Patient Access Specialist in Lewiston, Maine, 04240, United States. In this role, you will be performing critical functions related to patient admissions in a healthcare setting. Your duties will involve processing patient information, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining exceptional customer service standards. Responsibilities: • Provide excellent customer service while interacting with patients, adhering to organizational policies and demonstrating compassion • Ensure accurate assignment of MRNs and conduct medical necessity/compliance checks • Handle inbound and outbound calls to gather demographic, insurance, and other patient information • Responsible for the pre-registration of patient accounts before visits, which may involve discussing financial liabilities and payment plan options • Obtain necessary signatures on general consent for treatment forms and distribute patient education documents • Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system, select the applicable insurance plan code, and enter benefit data to assist with billing processes • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure account accuracy and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership • Process physician orders while maintaining excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey • Operate the telephone switchboard to manage incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. This is a second shift position, with twelve hour shifts. Requirements • Possess strong Customer Service skills, with the ability to empathize and effectively communicate with patients regarding their needs and concerns. • Demonstrable Administrative experience with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. • Proficiency in Data Entry, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy, ensuring patient information is correctly logged and updated. • Experience in Collections, with the ability to negotiate payment plans and resolve patient account discrepancies.
