Position Summary The Patient Access Tech  position is responsible to perform the duties of scheduling patient exams over the telephone with referring physicians and their office staff Minimum Qualifications Education High School degree or equivalent required. Secretarial, medical terminology, and computer courses preferred. Credentials State Required: None GPRMC Required/Preferred: None Physical Demands Stand and/or walk frequently. Sit constantly. Bend and stoop occasionally. Reach floor-shoulder frequently. Lift 15# frequently, patient transfers occasionally. Carry 15# films frequently. Push and/or pull 20 pounds occasionally. Visual acuity and manual dexterity within normal limits frequently. Essential Functions Maintains a thorough understanding of the Patient Scheduling application in the Hospital Information system. Able to maintain department schedules, by adding time slots or blocking times. Knowledge of chart and x-ray repository, to facilitate patient care. Maintains a thorough understanding or order repository. Has ability to problem solve in this application for Physician Offices and departments. Schedules patient appointment according to patient, doctor, needs and hospital availability. Ability to manage downtime procedures and re-initiation of Hospital Information System and Document Imaging System. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Complete phone calls, and orders in a timely fashion. Understands the difference in status. Able to rework the orders that have not been completed.
