Patient Account Representative

Requirements:

High school graduate/GED required. College degree in finance preferred. Certified Patient Account Specialist Certification and/or Certified Healthcare Collector Certification preferred A minimum of 2 years’ business office experience. Previous experience in a business office within a hospital environment preferred or transferable skills from other fields Previous experience in a business office within a substance abuse and/or psychiatric hospital preferred. Must have an acceptable background check and credit report A minimum of 2 years’ experience with 3rd party billing and collection experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with male and female, adult (18-over) substance abuse/dually diagnosed population

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Completes insurance verification for patients accurately and within 20 minutes of notification Accurately posts payments to patient accounts daily. Completes adjustments accurately based on payments and information received Processes all mail and related correspondence within 72 hours of receipt. Maintains collection notes for assigned accounts in a clear and concise manner. Performs timely follow up with insurance company and/or responsible party and continuing until account is resolved to a zero balance while properly documenting account. Keeps Business Office Director informed of any problem areas i.e. trends in payment practices of insurance companies and private accounts. All other duties as assigned
