Patient Accounts Representative

 

Position Summary

Maintains excellent customer service for incoming patient phone inquiries. Proficiency in various
aspects of the billing department with strong multitasking and organizational skills. Assists with
sorting all incoming and outgoing mail. Identifies and rectifies multi-practice explanation of
benefits, balancing accordingly and distributing to the appropriate parties. Lends support for
billing and accounts receivable follow-up tasks.

Primary Position Responsibilities

Responsible for answering all incoming billing phone calls and voice messages left after hours Responsible for working the self pay listing sent from Lab outreach, for updated insurance information. Effectively working the 3 day census report, making accounts that need to be reviewed. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of patient bills and maintains a professional, patient friendly approach to inquiries. Assists with all aspects of incoming and outgoing mail. Retrieves mail from mailbox daily, sorting and distributing all payments and correspondence items. Maintains mailroom supplies and remains current with all policy and procedural changes in relation to mail changes within HMC. Performs miscellaneous duties as requested by the Billing manager. Maintains a positive approach and collaborates with coworkers. Brings outstanding mailroom issues to closure within a reasonable period of time. Meets all productivity and quality standards as set by the Director of the Business Office and
other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent Certificate and/or Advanced Specialized or Technical Training Preferred: None
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation): Required: Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills Preferred: Previous physician billing experience
License, Registry or Certification: Required: None Preferred: None
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Required: Ability to type, use computer equipment and other office machines. Detail oriented, multitasking skills. Works independently with problem solving skills. Preferred: Medical office experience and familiarity with medical terminology preferred. Strong multitasking abilities required.
