18Job Description:BASIC FUNCTION
The Patient Screener maintains excellent customer service skills and assist patients to the correct registration and appointment areas within the facility and assists patients reporting with any symptoms to the correct triage process while maintaining proper transmission-based precautions. He or she always maintains patient confidentiality during screening process as much as possible and provides appropriate, up-to-date instructions to patients and/or visitors who report with symptoms.
The patient screener is knowledgeable of the current patient and visitor guidelines and demonstrates adequate screening processes of anyone entering the facility, with the exception of GHS and contracted staff. He or she recognizes the need for emergent attention for patients presenting with severe illness and demonstrates proper processes needed to alert staff of impending emergency.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Screens all patients, visitors and vendors entering the facility Assists patients, visitors and vendors to proper area for check-in Alerts other staff if emergent situation arises Demonstrates proper PPE usage and infection prevention techniques Maintains clean work environment and patient waiting area Demonstrates appropriate customer service skills relating Demonstrates ability to work with patients, visitors, vendors and/or staff under pressure Verbalizes knowledge of current patient/visitor restrictions and screening guidelines
