Description
As a Patient Biller, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate billing practices and timely resolution of claims. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with insurance collections, denials management, and appeals processing. This position requires a thorough understanding of medical billing principles, commercial and government payer guidelines, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and other payers.
+ Perform insurance collections, including following up on unpaid claims to ensure timely resolution.
+ Analyze and address claim denials and submit effective appeals to resolve outstanding balances.
+ Research and resolve discrepancies, coding issues, underpayments, and any other billing/reimbursement concerns.
+ Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, ensuring accurate billing and documentation.
+ Maintain compliance with industry regulations, including HIPAA and payer-specific guidelines.
+ Respond to payer and patient inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
+ Keep detailed and accurate records of billing, collections, and payment activities.
+ Collaborate with internal departments, such as coding and admissions, to resolve billing issues.
Requirements
+ In-depth knowledge of insurance payer rules, EOBs (Explanation of Benefits), and payment processes.
+ Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, etc.).
+ Familiarity with medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS) is preferred.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex billing issues.
+ Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work with patients, payers, and internal teams.
