We are hiring immediately for a Patient Care & Administrative Clinic Coordinator to join the UTHealth Neurology Clinic in Houston, Texas 77030. In this position, you will mentor other staff members, room patients, and work In-Basket tasks; you will be responsible for maintaining and reconciling the sample medication & Botox logs and reporting them to the nursing staff monthly. Candidates who are bilingual in English/Spanish and are certified Medical Assistants with previous experience as an MA are highly preferred.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced clinic.

Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting management in overseeing clinic operations including mentoring other employees as a quality improvement coordinator, insuring accurate completion of registration, monitoring and correction of reports, data integrity, accuracy and continuity of processes, handling escalated issues, scheduling staff, and staff training and education. Provides trained paramedical support in administering health care services to support clinic functions.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Makes medium to complex administrative decisions requiring a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of regulations, policies, and procedures. Oversees maintenance of office records such as patients, billings, personnel, purchases, and inventory to ensure compliance with UTHSC-H's human resources and financial management policies and procedures. Orders and stocks needed clinic supplies.  Maintains and schedules repair of diagnostic testing equipment. Develops a working knowledge of the patient population and physician relationships. Ensures operations are in line with the strategic business objectives of the facility. Evaluates the performance level of the unit and individuals. Defines performance expectations, measurement tools and policy and processes. Supports the instruction of educational programs that promote staff competency. May monitor quality improvement efforts and makes recommendations for change as necessary. Med staff support for EHR, correct issues with diagnosis codes. Assists physicians with examinations. Conducts the initial screening of patients, which may involve electrocardiogram testing, vital signs, height and weight, spyrometer testing, and preparation of reporting forms. May triage patients, remove and change dressings, staples, splints, prepare injections, enter clinical data to EHR. Inputs referrals, medications and charges in EHR under physician instruction. Educates patients on benefits and deductibles prior to surgery, casting, injections  Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Use and care of standard clinic equipment required Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office required  Medical Coding Certification preferred Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified 

Minimum Education:

Associates Degree required May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement

Minimum Experience:

Five years hospital/healthcare/medical business office experience 

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
