Under the supervision of a RN and according to established practices and procedures, the Patient Care Assistant, PCA (otherwise known as Certified Nurse Assistants or CNA) facilitates the provision of patient care by performing specific tasks and support functions as delegated by the Staff RN or LPN.
Completion of an approved nurse aid (CNA) training course required OR one semester of a clinical nursing course.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current BLS provider
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to:
· Provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served.
· Demonstrate knowledge and principles of growth and development over the life span.
· Provide the care needed as described in the unit/department policies and procedures.
· Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to the patient's age-specific needs,
· Excellent verbal and written skills.
· Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform required competencies (skills) within allotted time frames.
· Previous experience in phlebotomy and EKG preferred.
