Under the supervision of the RN, the PCA performs various duties assisting staff nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the hospital and will perform receptionist secretarial support duties while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Here are some ways you’ll serve patients:
Critical monitoring, like vital signs and glucose checks – so we can better assess their health Transport them to appointments and procedures – to get them the right care at the right time Interact with them to promote comfort, and express compassion and empathy as they heal Walking – It’s one of the most important things we can do for them- and you get to help them do it safely Assist with ADLs (activities of daily living) – these are things we often take for granted that patients may be unable to, or need help doing, themselves. ADLs include bathing, brushing teeth, toileting and more.In addition, you will also:
Manage communication in the patient care area regarding patient care activities and patient location, for patients and families, and refers requests to nursing staff or appropriate hospital personnel Initiate, assemble, and maintain charts for all patients on the assigned unit Transcribe physicians' orders; complete all necessary forms, requisitions, and communications necessary to implement orders Record and chart clinical data and other patient information received from nursing staff and medical staff in addition to maintaining the patient chart in appropriate, functional order as prescribed by Hospital and unit policyOfferings:

High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience, including ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), preferred.
