Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and compassionate Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will utilize medical terminology to schedule patients for surgery, support multiple medical platforms, and leverage knowledge of preadmission testing, medical clearances, and medical conditions to ensure appropriate scheduling. This role involves coordinating between different providers across various locations, specialties, and insurance plans, as well as maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.

ResponsibilitiesSchedule patients for surgery using medical terminology.Support various medical platforms and coordinate with 2 surgical centers and 3 hospitals.Utilize knowledge of preadmission testing, medical clearances, and medical conditions for appropriate scheduling.Coordinate between different providers for various locations, specialties, and insurances.Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) for patient records.Support fax machine operations between offices and integrate files into patient records.Schedule patient appointments via phone, verify insurance coverage, and collect copayments.Provide patient support by explaining insurance coverages, copays, in-network and out-of-network details, and referral requirements.Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.Triage patient questions to the appropriate clinical point of contact.Assist with patient examinations, take vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures.Essential SkillsMedical assisting experiencePatient care experienceScheduling appointments and patient scheduling experiencePrevious Medical Assistant experienceSurgical scheduling experience and knowledgeEMR experience, including Athena and EPICDetail-orientedPhone etiquetteMedical terminology knowledgeHealth care and insurance knowledgeAdditional Skills & QualificationsCertification in Medical Assisting preferred but not required (expired certifications accepted)Orthopedic experience is a plusWork Environment

Support will be provided to Morristown, RWJ, and various surgical centers. The role requires working in Sparta until work-from-home eligibility is achieved, which is available after contract completion and positive performance reviews. Two days per week of remote work are possible, but candidates must provide their own equipment and workspace. The shift is Monday to Friday, with the option to choose between 8 am-4 pm or 9 am-5 pm. The team is known for being eager to teach and friendly, providing a small group feel despite being part of a larger network with seven offices. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
