Job Description:Patient Care Floater/Medical Assistant

The Patient Care Floater/MA performs Medical Assistant duties in multiple departments as assigned on a routine "fill-in" basis. This position functions as an important member of the healthcare teams by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients’ care, comfort, and safety. The MA performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
**This position is eligible for an additional $1.00 per hour float pay.**

WORK SHIFT

Mon - Fri; 7:00 am - 5:00 pm; occasional times until 8:00 pm.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Required Education: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or Documented successful completion of the following courses (of their recognized course equivalent):

-Medical Terminology

- Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease 

-Pharmacology Preferred/Optional: Licensed Practical Nurse license awarded by the State of Wisconsin.


Preferred Education: Licensed Practical Nurse license awarded by the State of Wisconsin.

EXPERIENCE

Preferred/Optional Experience: Previous healthcare experience preferred


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Minimum Required License/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.

OR

Preferred/Optional: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license awarded by the State of Wisconsin.

EXPERIENCE

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire and one of the following:

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification awarded by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)Registered Medical Assistant registration from the American Medical Technologist (AMT)

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license awarded by the State of Wisconsin.
