Mercy Hospital’s 9M Cardiac Stepdown Unit primarily cares for patients who require a higher level of care than a traditional surgical unit. On this team, you will find a unique culture where organization, mutual support and encouragement are integral to efficient and excellent patient care. This role offers a great learning opportunity for PCNAs who want to work in CCU/CVU or Critical Care.
A caregiver in this position works rotating days/evenings from 6:00AM - 2:30PM and 2:00PM - 10:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, coordinating patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters. Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN. Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) before or within new hire periodMilitary experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) consideredProficiency in applied mathematicsPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
