As a Patient Care Quality Liaison, Indigenous Health with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
Report to the Director of Indigenous Patient Experience, matrix report to the VCH Director, Patient Care Quality Office (PCQO), and work with the Indigenous Health team (Strategic Leads, Manager, Clinicians) as well as VCH’s administrative team (Regional Directors, Executive Directors, Medical leads, Operational Directors and Managers).Support Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients/clients/residents with a specific focus towards Indigenous peoples and their health and healthcare experiences.Provide leadership and consultation by incorporating an Indigenous perspective and bringing a lens of Indigenous cultural safety, diversity, equity and inclusion to the identification, management, resolution and education of patient/client/resident care issues.Work in collaboration with key stakeholders, internal to the organization and the larger VCH PCQO team to facilitate a respectful, comprehensive, and appropriate resolution of patient/family care concerns.Ensure that avenues for Indigenous patient/client/resident feedback are accessible, facilitate and support the reporting of care concerns, and ensure that complaints and concerns are addressed in a timely, appropriate, and respectful manner.Take a proactive approach to understanding Indigenous patients’ experiences in healthcare settings at VCH and also be responsible for ensuring a system for tracking, analyzing and reporting client feedback activities, and identifying opportunities for improvement related to education and policy change for the organization.As part of the Indigenous Health team, the PCQ Liaison works cooperatively with the Quality & Patient Safety, Patient Experience and Risk Management teams, referring to them all patient/family feedback issues with opportunities for quality improvement, potential liability or other risks requiring reporting to the Health Care Protection Program (HCPP) QualificationsEducation & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant human services discipline (education, social work, nursing, allied health).Three to five (3 to 5) years' recent, related experience in conflict resolution/crisis intervention or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Three to five (3 to 5) years of experience working with Indigenous patients, communities, or populations.Pursuant to Section 41 of the British Columbia Human Rights Code, preference will be given to individuals of Indigenous identity (First Nations, Inuit, M�tis).
Knowledge & Abilities
As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
