Job Summary

This position will consistently work in registration, laboratory and nursing areas (as a Medical Assistant) of Urgent Care. Duties include but are not limited to greet and assist patients upon arrival. Complete registration for all patients presenting for care. Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, review insurance, insurance verification for coverage and eligibility. This position will be responsible for the collection and coordination of patient samples for laboratory testing. Also, responsible for performing non-technical, simple laboratory tasks in all sections such as operating and maintaining the records of basic instruments and centrifuges.  Clerical duties are also included in the lab such as: patient registration, patient test ordering, result correlation, distribution, filing and the collection of drug screens and breath alcohol testing. This position will assist providers in the day-to-day activities of the clinic in accordance with Federal, State and Local standards and guidelines that govern the clinic. 

Regulatory Requirements Must have a high school diploma Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required. Lab assistants are encouraged to obtain a phlebotomy certification. Prior lab experience preferred. Medical Assistant certification is preferred. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required. MA Certification, education, or previous clinical experience as an MA in a clinical setting required. Language Skills Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills. Skills Must complete simple laboratory tasks in all sections. Previous experience with an EMR system is preferred.
