and are committed to providing quality healthcare to our communityThe Emergency Department at Windham provides patients with high levels of care with symptoms ranging from traumas to the common cold to drug overdoses and everything in between Our multi disciplinary team includes Registered Nurses Advanced Providers Nursing Assistants and administrative staff The Emergency Department at Windham is equipped with beds including a fast track area and behavioral health space Our RNs see a wide variety of patients including those with behavioral health and opioid related needs Our staff prides itself in its flexibility initiative to help others in need as well as our strong cohesiveness as a team which ultimately gives our patients the highest level of care they expect and deservePosition SummaryUnder the direct supervision of an RN or hisher designee the Patient Care Technician will assist the RN and MD in providing direct care to patients according to age specific needsPatient types include neonate infant child adolescent adult older adult Key areas of responsibility Model quality patientcustomer service by demonstrating a willingness to serve all customers at all times Maintain awareness of patient needs while utilizing tact discretion and compassion in responding to those needsAssist patients with activities of daily living and record in the medical recordCollaborate with the nursing team to ambulate transfer andor turn patient as appropriate and document Always maintain proper body mechanicsObtain and record vital signs blood glucose EKGs and patient intakeoutput while reporting any abnormal findings to the Registered NursePerforms basic therapeutic measures under the direction of the Registered Nurse to assist in achieving patient care outcomesMonitors cardiac rhythms and reports changes to the appropriate Registered Nurse as they occur Documents strip interpretation per unit protocolAccurately performs phlebotomy for the collection of blood and blood cultures Accurately collects and obtains specimens sputum urine stoolPerform visual acuity Assists MD with surgical procedures ie set up dressing applications Properly fits crutches and reviews instructs patient in crutch walking and applies orthopedic devices ie sling write splint knee immobilizerPerform daily equipment checksPerform other related duties as requiredWork whereevery
