Patient Insurance Specialist Liaison

Insurance Specialist Liaison (Patient Insurance Assistance Coordinator)

Position Type: This is a Full-Time, remote position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

 

Overview:

The Insurance Specialist Liaison / Patient Insurance Assistance Coordinator supports patients in accessing financial assistance for medical insurance grants. Serving as a liaison between patients and the American Kidney Fund (AKF), this role helps patients’ complete applications, authorization forms, and grant requests using AKF’s Grant Management System (GMS).

 

Essential Functions:

Ensure compliance with Innovative Renal Care (IRC) policies and American Kidney Fund (AKF) regulations. Adhere to AKF’s Provider Code of Conduct and HIPP Guideline requirements. Track and maintain HIPP applications, authorization documents, and grant requests. Assist patients with enrolling in and maintaining AKF’s HIPP program. Organize and maintain documentation for audit readiness. Exercise sound judgment and sensitivity when assisting patients. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a professional and empathetic manner. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and business-related information. Perform other administrative tasks and projects as needed.

 

Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. 0-2 years of experience in a related field preferred. Previous experience in health insurance eligibility and enrollment rules and procedures. Previous experience with the range of qualified health plan options and insurance affordability programs. Understanding of the needs of underserved and vulnerable populations Understanding of privacy and security standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
