Located in Bethpage, St. Joseph Hospital that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical, critical care and surgical services. Its Emergency Department cares for approximately 33,000 patients a year. Other vital services include an Ambulatory Surgery Unit, The Center for Sleep Medicine, Hyperbaric and Wound Healing Center, CHS Cancer Center, The Center for Speech and Swallowing Disorders, Diabetes Education Center and a full scope of outpatient radiology services, including Cardiac CT. Job Details Responsibilities: Receives and directs patients, visitors and hospital personnel arriving on or calling the patient care unit. Receives requests from patients and families and refers requests to the nurse or appropriate hospital personnel. Provides information regarding patient location. Records and delivers messages for patients and staff. Receives and distributes mail and various other items for patients and staff on the unit. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse, and other unit staff, orders and maintains the appropriate quantity of forms, materials, supplies, and equipment, par levels on assigned unit. Enters requests for work orders, computer issues etc. into the computer system. Accurately enters and updates patient data in the computer system in a timely manner. Performs 1:1's and enhanced supervisions. Answers call bells and phones, hand washing observations. Performs unit errands as requested such as retrieve wheelchairs, pick up from the blood bank, pharmacy, stock room, transports discharged patients to the door, etc. Receives and communicates all pertinent information to appropriate personnel. Maintains a clean, safe and functional working environment in the nursing station. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) from American Heart Association required. Prior hospital experience preferred as Unit Secretary or Ward Clerk strongly preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task required. Must have superb customer service skills. Salary Range USD $23.11 - USD $23.11 /Hr. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
