Position Purpose
The oncology scheduler coordinates and schedules all oncology appointments for established patients such as, laboratory, chemotherapy infusion, blood products, Physician/APP, injections, nutrition, chemotherapy education, genetics, symptom management and survivorship appointments; as well as coordinating radiology studies, internal/external referral appointments as requested by providers, nurses and other patient care team members.
What you will do
Schedule cancer treatment appointments for patients in multiple locations
Work with Medical Secretaries and providers to accommodate patients for their cancer treatments
Create multiple (up to 20 or more) appointments to establish a treatment cycle; modify schedule as necessary based on cancellations or other factors to achieve delivery of treatments in the desired sequence
Work directly with patients to develop the most timely and convenient cycle of appointments for the patient according to infusion specifications
Perform duties relative to the booking process of patients requiring a doctor visit, infusion, lab, and any related appointments needed outside of Hematology and Oncology
Schedule oncology patients for treatment regimens involving multiple appointments by coordinating schedule for administration of drugs, availability of infusion chairs, physician availability, and appointments within and outside of Oncology (Lab, Radiology, etc)
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Proficient knowledge of Medical Terminology required
Understanding of surgical procedures
Requires excellent computer knowledge and skills particularly in programs such as Epic, Outlook, Word
Excellent organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills
