The Role: Patient Scheduling Representative

The Opportunity:

MaineGeneral Health is currently seeking a Patient Scheduler to join our team of professionals.  The Patient Scheduler is responsible for gathering and verifying patient information including patient demographics and insurance information for scheduled appointments at our facility and physician practices. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have a desire to help patients, this is your opportunity to be part of a great team.

The Work:

Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programsCommunicates with medical and clinical staff to ensure availability of facilities and staff and intake preauthorization's at time of schedulingCommunicates with patients and/or their families, as permissible, to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and to confirm appointmentsIntakes demographics, insurance information, and pre-authorizations as necessary for all scheduled encounters

You Have:

Ability to handle a large volume of outgoing and incoming callsStrong interpersonal and customer service skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution, and a warm demeanor) 1+ year working in customer service, preferably in healthcareKnowledge of medical terminology preferredExperience with using everyday computer electronic technology tools (e.g., email, data retrieval, voicemail, and internet/intranet) as well as ability to effectively utilize and enter information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
