Duties:Greeting and directing patients to examination roomsScheduling patient appointments and making reminder callsInforming patients about delays and waiting timesObtaining patients’ addresses, contact details, insurance information, and medical historiesUpdating and verifying patient information at every visitAssisting patients in filling out patient history forms, consent forms, and payment contract forms, when necessaryReceiving and processing cash and credit card payments for medical services renderedReviewing patient accounts, identifying delinquent accounts, and collecting overdue paymentsPerforming insurance eligibility checksCollecting copayments, deductibles, and outstanding debtAnswering, investigating, and/or directing patient inquiries or complaints to the appropriate medical staff memberFollowing up with patients to ensure their inquiry or complaint has been satisfactorily resolvedRequesting and sending medical recordsRequesting and scheduling referral appointmentsPerforming administrative and clerical duties, such as filing paperwork, completing outreach, sending notices/ letters, preparing documentation, when necessaryAssisting with completion of task assigned by the Practice Manager and the Provider(s) Skills & Competency:ProfessionalismCustomer ServiceWritten and Verbal CommunicationProcedural SkillsDocumentation SkillsPlanningDependabilityTeamworkOrganizationCustomer/ Patient Focus – Good sense of urgency when completing patient requestConfidentialitySupervisor: Practice Manager
Paygrade Level/ Salary Range: $13 - $19/ hr. Negotiable.

Qualifications: • High school diploma• Experience working as a patient representative• Knowledge of medical terms and practices• Professional manner• Strong interpersonal and communication skills• Meticulous attention to detail• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.)
Requirement: Up-to-date Influenza (Flu) and COVID-19 vaccinations are required. No exceptions will be made.
Preferences: Bilingual (Spanish and English)
Work Environment: Karen L. Smith, MD, PA is a rural-based, primary care, family medical practice located in Raeford, North Carolina. The practice features a fully integrated electronic health record system, Athena Health. The practice features collaborative agreements with various medical facilities/ vendors.
