Patient Services Representative - Dermatology
UPMC St. Margaret Dermatology is seeking a dedicated Patient Services Representative to join our team. Our facility specializes in medical dermatology and performs innovative Mohs Micrographic surgery with the assistance of our onsite pathology lab. Our physicians offer comprehensive care for dermatologic conditions. Fast Facts about UPMC St. Margaret Dermatology: + Monday through Friday schedule (8 hour shifts) + No weekends, holidays, on-call or evening shifts + Providing Innovative highly sought after Mohs Micrographic Surgery for skin cancers + A state-of-the-art academic teaching facility with expert physicians and surgeons + The office has been recently renovated and is expanding to increase its surgical services + Easy commute from major highways, located off hospital grounds + Free onsite parking **If you are looking for a family-like atmosphere in a consistent environment - we encourage you to apply!** **Responsibilities:** + Educate patients about their financial responsibilities and connect them to advocacy resources. + Verify insurance benefits online or by phone. + Obtain patient or family signatures for treatment and financial consent, following HIPAA rules. + Direct phone calls to the appropriate areas or clinical providers. + Perform administrative tasks like scanning medical records and faxing. + Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in, either through self-arrival technology or at the desk. + Collect copayments and other patient payments. + Update patient registration information and schedule follow-up appointments. + Help patients navigate the healthcare system and provide clear instructions. + Take action to resolve service issues and ensure continuity of care. + Register patients in the Biometrics program and explain its benefits. + Promote and assist with MyUPMC patient portal registration. + Perform tasks according to system-wide competencies and behaviors. + Carry out other assigned duties as needed. + Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required. + Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred. + Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred. + Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. + Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred.
